Today's inspiration

                                        source - http://www.bathtubsfactorydirect.com/servlet/StoreFront

This is my inspiration for today on this wet and windy Sunday. My home is going to have one of these in it. I have found out that it actually doesn't matter if anyone is reading this as it is very therapeutic for me. Not sure I am going to get much spray painting done today but I will give it a go. On an exciting note for me today I may have an opportunity to earn some money coming up and I have bids on three of my ebay items :) The total so far is £7 but I have a few 'watchers' so hopefully that will increase. Be back later :)

Saturday, 27 October 2012

Well it is the evening again and sitting watching fix factor 'cos the hubby likes it. It just annoys me! Didn't quite get all the items on my list done but I did list eight things on ebay that I wasn't planning to and have watchers on five of them. I hate the wait! Got all the jars down out of the loft and I have tons of baby food ones which I am going to use to make individual hot chocolate servings with mini marshmallows, Cadbury buttons and a candy cane stirrer. Am going to sell them for £1.50 each. Do you think that is a fair price? Would you pay that for it? I think they will make great stocking fillers. We shall see how they go. My goal is to get the fund up to £150 before Christmas. Oh and I realised that I mentioned that I was going to do something with a tray but my usual procrastinating attention span of a gnat self got sidetracked again but I plan to get the spray paint out tomorrow weather permitting as I need to spray paint the jar lids anyway.

I promise to get some pics on tomorrow of my creations but for now have a good evening :)

Chilly willy day

Brrrr it is cold and frosty this morning. Love days like this though :)

My list for today is:

  1. try and clean the spoons again!
  2. list them on ebay
  3. dry and iron the vintage tablecloths and doilies and list them on ebay too.
  4. get hubby in the loft (I am not tall enough to get up on the ladder as it is just a step ladder).
  5. sort out the jars I have up there
  6. oh and I bought this pretty doily type thing from the charity shop and had no idea what it was for until yesterday when I saw one on ebay and it is a bread basket liner so that is going on ebay too when I find it!
  7. basically find everything I can to sell!
  8. do 2 loads of washing
Just to let you know I do do other housework but that is a given and only sometimes makes it onto my list if I am feeling disinclined to do it. Gives me a shove up the backside!

Okay will be back later for an update. Wrap up warm and see you soon :)

ownhomefund total so far £10      still need £49990

What a great day!

Wow what a day! Little things please me a lot so when it snowed this evening I nearly wet myself with excitement. You see I absolutely LOVE snow! It is so pretty and exciting and I dream of getting snowed in and coming together as a community. Snow unites! Also on an equally exciting note I sold some vintage aprons that I won at a charity auction for 50p for £10 on ebay!!!!!!! That £10 goes straight into our ownhomefund account and is the first bit of money to go in! I was ecstatic and they were sold within an hour of listing them!! I still have two vintage tablecloths and some doilies that were also in the same bag as the aprons that I have yet to sell. Will list them tomorrow. I managed to complete all the jobs on my list but am having trouble with the spoons. I tried a tip off of pinterest on how to clean them with salt and foil but it wasn't very successful. Will have to pull out the chemical cleaner then :/
Anyhow, will be back tomorrow no doubt with more lists of jobs to do and hopefully some makeover photos of a tray (exciting eh!!). Sending hubby up into the loft too to get some more things down for the bootfair.

Sleep tight all (or no-one as I am talking to myself!)

Time to get my backside in gear

As a procrastinator I have lots of good ideas but rarely actually get around to doing them. I have found that writing lists helps me a lot. I have decided to do a boot fair next weekend so I really need to get my backside in gear and get on with making things and sorting out what to sell. One of the problems I have is that in the past I have got rid of things and then thought later 'Why did I do that? I could use that right now'. I am not a hoarder, more the opposite as I hate clutter, but I need to let go of things without regretting it at a later time.

On my list of things today to do are

1. untarnish the silver plated spoons I bought at a charity shop and price them up
2. Iron and mend the vintage aprons and list them on ebay
3. Do two loads of washing (I have to put things like this on my list to remind me that I have other stuff that needs doing to as I get sidetracked easily!)
4. Sort out the Christmas decorations that I have started making and get pictures of them on my facebook page Feltylicious.
5. Confirm my bank account on paypal.
6. Label up the penny pot as an 'own home fund' for all that spare change and to remind us all why we are scrimping

Lists help me feel like I have achieved something at the end of the day and I enjoy ticking them off as it motivates me to do the next one. Silly I know, but it works for me :)

Anyway off to do number one and will check back in later.
Have a good afternoon x

This is to inspire me. My dream *sigh*

Well this is my first ever blog post and I am talking to no-one. Nothing new there then!! I thought I would share with anyone that wants to read this in the future, why I wanted to start a blog. Firstly I am really bad at getting on and actually doing things so I have started forcing myself to do the things that need doing. This is one of them! My ultimate aim for this blog is for it to force me to get some money to buy our own home. We currently live in a housing association property which is lovely and we are extremely grateful for. Here are the problems though:

  1. We are limited to what we can do to the house to make it our own.
  2. Because of the new laws regarding benefits, when my husband retires and we rely on benefits to pay our rent, we will have to move as we will be deemed as underoccupying our home.
  3. We have lived in sooooo many different houses belonging to other people and really really just want some little house to call our own.
  4. We have no money to buy our own home! I suffer from fibromyalgia so am unable to work.
  5. We need to buy a house outright as hubby will have to work until he is 90 to pay off a mortgage.
  6. We need £50000!!!! (yes you can still buy houses for that here!)

Just a few seemingly insurmountable issues there then!! But I am determined to overcome them. I am not sure how yet but I have some ideas to start with:

  1. Set up a paypal account purely for buying our own home and a subsequent savings account linked to it.
  2. Have everyone who gives me money for my birthday/Christmas/just cos they love me (that never happens!) pay it directly into this account.
  3. Sell my creations using all the fabric and felt etc that I already have and have monies paid to above account (see 1!).
  4. Put a donate button on my blog. Yes, yes I know this sounds like begging but I am not asking you to do it just have the option there if anyone would like to help us out. Sorry all pride has gone out of the window with this illness :(
  5. 'Do up' cheap/free pieces of furniture and sell them on.
Any other suggestions are very welcome. We do not have any extravagences that we can cut back on e.g. I dye my own hair, go to a dental school for free dental work, do not buy take away food or new clothes or new furniture. The charity shop, boot fairs etc are my friends :)

Wow this is a long first post but I thought I would lay it out there so you know my intentions from the start. I am planning on sharing this journey with you and showing you my crafty, upcycling and basically any way of making money schemes along the way.

Thanks for stopping by :)
